Yes, always. The student-side Solus app is free to download and use forever, with no limitations on document count or features. Students never pay anything to write or submit verified documents.
Your .solus files are stored locally on your device and students' devices — they're never locked behind a server. If you cancel, you lose access to the teacher dashboard and class management features, but all documents remain fully accessible and verifiable using the public verifier at verify.soluseditor.com (free, no account required).
Yes. Enterprise customers can request a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and FERPA compliance addendum. Because document content is encrypted and stored locally by default, Solus has a minimal FERPA footprint compared to cloud-based tools. Contact us at cameroncgilbert@gmail.com for details.
Not yet. Solus currently runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. A macOS version is in development and expected in Q3 2026. If you have students on Mac, they can use a Windows machine in a computer lab or run Windows in a virtual machine in the meantime. Contact us if macOS support is a blocker for your institution.
